Reportedly unreleased Drake track leads to viral TikTok dance

Drake has reportedly been in self-quarantine since coming in contact with Kevin Durant, who tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month. So he’s likely had a lot of time to reflect on the virality of TikTok dances, and now it appears he has his own. But he had some help.

On Sunday, Twitter user Toosie (@TheRealYvngQuan) posted a dance dubbed the Toosie Slide, accompanied by an allegedly unreleased Drake track. The dance apparently originated with Michigan dance duo Ayo & Teo, who posted it to TikTok.

Ayo & Teo are also set to host a new Quibi dance competition show called The Sauce, and have created dances for Drake songs before. It promptly took off on TikTok.

So how did an unreleased track end up in the mix? A tweet from someone who works at TikTok suggests that perhaps Drake released the snippet to Ayo & Teo, but didn’t confirm that to the Daily Dot. Is this a new movement of artist and dancer working together directly for TikTok virality? (Drake’s new album is also reportedly coming soon, according to LeBron James.)

Still, people were thankful for the (simplified) distraction.

Perhaps Drake was inspired by the recent Flip the Switch challenge, which used his song “Nonstop.” He commented on the viral Elizabeth Warren SNL clip with “Wow I need to come home.” And then he apparently did.

We’ve reached out to TikTok for comment.
