After Best Buy switched to contactless curbside pickup in light of the coronavirus pandemic, at least one location is getting creative with its approach to it.
In a now-viral TikTok video, a Best Buy shopping basket holding a customer’s purchased items can be seen making its way to the customer’s vehicle via the top of a small robot car.
At least one other social media video corroborates this approach. In that video, as seen on Twitter, a Best Buy employee drops the purchased items into the basket and uses a remote control to maneuver the robot car to the customer’s car. The customer doesn’t even have to get out of the vehicle; they simply open the car door to grab their purchase from the basket.

Best Buy announced on March 22 that it would be adding curbside pickup to all of its stores in the nation after temporarily closing. There has reportedly been a surge in orders for home office equipment due to the number of people now working from home. Before switching exclusively to contactless curbside pickup, the company began limiting in-store customers to 10 to 15 at a time. It made that switch after a Vice report detailed the company’s alleged mishandling of the pandemic.
