1. A multi-functional brush for your suede and nubuck shoes, coats, and bags that even diminishes water stains, no spray or other cleaner required.

amazon.com

You can totally use it with another cleaner or spray if you want, but it seems like reviewers have success without!

Promising review: “This little brush works incredibly well! I was skeptical at first, because the shoes I need to fix were very damaged — as you can see in the photos, they are nude suede and have a lot of watermarks and dirt. I didn’t think these shoes were salvageable, but this brush changed my mind. It’s not perfect and you can still see where the watermark like is if you really really try, but overall, the shoes look 95% better and only took me about 10 minutes to fix.” —Alexa

Get it on Amazon for $6.99.

2. An easy-to-install kit that turns most tank toilets into self-cleaning toilets. That’s right: You may never have to scrub your commode again.

amazon.com

You can get either the chlorine cartridges or the “blue” cleaning cartridges (that have a disinfecting cleaner that’s less harsh than chlorine); but because the system stays in the overflow tube, you don’t have to worry about damage to any of the plastic or rubber parts of your toilet tank if you do prefer the chlorine. And if you have zero experience dealing with your toilet, don’t worry! It really does take just a few minutes to install.

Promising review: I’ve used many different toilet bowl cleaners in my day, all with very little success. This is the first one that actually did the job of regular manual bowl scrubbing. In our heavily used family bathroom, this unit lasted three or four months before it ran out of the cartridge, and the results started to become evident. The whole time it not only kept the water/scent clean, it kept the scum/mineral buildup around the waterline completely gone! Gone are the days of weekly scrubbing the nasty toilet! This is truly a great product. —Chris F

Get it on Amazon: the “blue” kit for $11.94 or the chlorine kit for $10.10.

3. A semi-adjustable blinds dusting tool with washable microfiber that’ll also squish to clean your car’s air vents.

amazon.com, amazon.com

Sure it’s not ~electric~, but since it can dust two blinds at once, it’ll cut your blind-dusting time in half. Also included: five washable microfiber sleeves.

Promising review: “A little thing that means a lot! I used it on my kitchen vertical blinds that cover a patio door, adjacent to my stove. Needless to say, they collect cooking oils. I spritzed each blind once with a spray cleaner and ran this device down the blinds, two at a time. They are clean and streak-free. I cleaned the balance of my blinds throughout the house just using this device without a cleaner. It dusted them beautifully. It saves time and energy and does a great job.” —Consumer

Get it on Amazon for $7.99.

4. A drain millipede, which extracts every last bit of hair and whatever other mysteriously gross gunk lurks below the surface, clogging up your tub and sink drains.

Amazon

As long as the clog is in your sink trap and not further down the plumbing line, you can skip the call to the plumber!

Promising review: “Our one sink would constantly back-up over and over again. We would use Draino and what not which would open it up for a week, but then it would slow up again. We finally said enough is enough and tried this snake. For $9, it’s cheaper than a new bottle of Draino. Couldn’t be happier with this! It goes right down the drain, turned in around for about 20 times, and then yanked it out. Pulled out a whole bunch of crap! Did it two more times, and water flows down this drain like it was just installed. Do NOT plan on re-using this down the road, just clean out the drain, and toss it in the trash! Worth the $9!” —Marc

Get it on Amazon for $8.99.

5. And of course the classic TubShroom because it will prevent that clogged, goopy, hairy horror-scape problem in the first place.

amazon.com, amazon.com

You do have to pull the hair off of it after your showers (which may lead you to marvel how you have so much left on your head!) and let the ‘shroom dry on the side of the tub so it doesn’t get gross itself, but that takes like, two seconds.

Promising review: “I was skeptical about this little rubber strainer, but I needed something to save my drains from the piles of hair that fall out of my head. This thing is amazing! It fit into my standard drain perfectly, and I don’t think a single hair slipped by it. It was pretty gross to see how much hair I lost in just one shower, but it was comforting to know it wasn’t clogging my drain. Clean up is super easy, too. I just took a tissue and wiped it from top to bottom, grabbing all the hair as the soft rubber strainer released it all easily. Not a hair was caught in it.” —Lawyer for Justice

Get it from Amazon for $12.99 (available in six colors. Have a pop-up or flush drain? Try OXO’s hair catcher instead, $9.99 on Amazon.)

And we know it works because we’ve tried it! Read our full Tubshroom review for more.

6. A pair of scrub brushes that have your back no matter how stuck-on or deeply-embedded the grime at hand happens to be.

amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: “I HIGHLY recommend these brushes for grout. If you are on the fence of “Ehhh do I NEED a grout brush? I could just scrub the floor…”. Stop. Get these brushes. They are stiff and cut down the elbow grease time incredibly. Plus you can use them on anything. Pros: Sturdy, easy to clean, solid brushes. Con: Hands may “hurt” a bit after use due to elbow grease.” —Jennifer

Get the two on Amazon for $5.99 (two colors available).

7. Or an automatic scrubbing brush so you can just lazily move it back and forth over whatever stubborn, sticky, rubbed-in mess you’re cleaning up this time while it scrubs up to *sixty times each second* for you.

amazon.com, Natalie Brown / BuzzFeed

It’s like a giant electric toothbrush, but y’all, I own one and it REALLY works. You literally see the dirt come up and the grout lighten with just 30 seconds of use. They make a specialty grout head you can buy for it, but TBH the default brush works just as well, unless you have incredibly narrow grout lines.

Promising review: “Last night I was reborn. Everything I’d experienced up until that point suddenly was just ‘before.’ The present and future seemed like a beautiful, promising ‘after.’ ‘What is the cause of this renewed zest for life?’ you might ask. It was the use of the Rubbermaid Reveal Power Scrubber on my shower grout. It elevated a simple baking soda and water solution to alchemical proportions. This thing is nirvana. My pink-tiled shower, which never looks clean no matter how many hours of backbreaking and bicep-burning labor I put in, now looks bright, clean, full of promise. An otherwise disgusting and dated purely utilitarian part of my home is now art. This this is absolutely incredible. Buy it, see for yourself. 11/10 would recommend.” —Amazon Customer

Get it on Amazon for $15.99.

8. A pumice stone — it beats back even the worst hard water buildup on toilets and tubs, so you can enjoy having a bathroom that actually looks clean again.

amazon.com

Promising review: “I have a 19 year old master bathroom–toilet that had accumulated some nasty stains over time which regular toilet brushes and cleaning products just would not remove. Decided to try this pumice stone, figuring that the worst that could happen would be that it scratched the porcelain and I’d have to replace the toilet. Which was what I would have had to have done anyway, if I couldn’t get the disgusting stains out. Pumice stone worked like a charm! Given the nature and severity of the stains, it required some elbow grease, but 10 minutes later I have a new-looking bowl, and I see no signs of scratching. Am very happy with this purchase…well worth the very low price!” —Happy Retiree

Get it on Amazon for $8.99.

9. An extendable microfiber duster set that makes it easy to follow the cardinal rule of cleaning: start at the top and work your way down to the bottom, so you don’t vacuum first then end up with dust on the floor from your fan.

amazon.com

It comes with four pieces: an adjustable handle that extends from 24 to 49 inches, a regular short handle, a fluffy duster good for brushing stuff down from high places, and a bendable chenille and microfiber duster that grabs and holds onto dust and dirt.

Promising review: “Perfect for my needs. Love the telescoping design and that it has no protruding joints that would prevent it from fitting underneath furniture with low clearance. Reaches under, behind and around all the tight spaces I can’t get to without moving heavy furniture around. The duster is also very lightweight and can handle delicate situations.” —Sjay

Get it on Amazon for $15.99.

10. A garbage disposal cleaning brush you can reuse indefinitely to disperse all the gunk and buildup lurking just beneath the rubber splash guard, and all the stuck stuff in the main “tank” of your disposer — which just might solve your odor problems for good.

amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: “I purchased my Mr. Scrappy in July 2017 and use it nearly weekly — it’s that quick and easy. Today after using for at least the 40th time I was admiring how the brush still looks great, so I came back to post a picture. There’s no rust and the bristles are still all good and stiff. The brush easily rinses clean under the faucet — I squirt on a little dish soap before popping it in the drain and then it’s just a matter of rinsing the brush off when I’m done. Tip: cover with a paper towel as you pull it out of the drain to avoid drips flipping up and out on you as the bristles straighten themselves!” —cooee

Get it on Amazon for $9.20.

11. A pet hair removing–brush to replace every single one of your lint rollers. Simply glide it over any fabric surface to pick up basically every last bit of shedding your furry friend’s always leaving in their wake…

…then clean it quickly by inserting it into its storage case. From there, the hair collects at the bottom of the case, where you can easily empty it.

youtube.com

Promising review: “Being the mommy of two lovely cats, this thing is LIFE. Gone are the days of depleting my bank account on lint rollers! Whoever invented this is my personal hero. It’s easy to use, easy to clean (self-cleaning, like my cats 😸😸) and so far, long-lasting. I’ve had it for several months and it still works like new (unlike my handheld vacuum). I keep one in my bedroom so I can brush down the sheets before getting into a hairy bed (yuck!) and one in the living room for the couch and other furniture. One caveat: in my experience, it doesn’t work fantastic on all clothes. However, it makes a fantastic “duster” for smooth surfaces covered in cat hair (bookshelves, coffee table, nightstand, etc.). I honestly don’t know what I’d do without it.” —Jenny C

Get it on Amazon: the furniture-size brush for $19.99 and an “on the go” (read: glove compartment size) for $9.50.

12. A set of drill brushes so you can go to town on essentially any grimy surface, from cooked-on grease on a stovetop to built-up dirt in a bathtub to the accumulated years of grime on tile and grout.

amazon.com

Just make sure to use them only on surfaces you’re pretty sure they won’t scratch! You can alway test in a discreet area first to be sure.

Promising review: “I bought this on a whim because my walk-in shower is just a pain to clean. I’m 51 and I guess I’ve just been old school with how I clean, so hand scrubbing it was for years. The FIRST time I used this to clean my shower it took five minutes AND it scrubbed my shower more clean than it has been in years. In the corners, the floor, the glass door…everything came out squeaky clean. I’m NEVER cleaning my shower by hand again.” —Terry

Get the set of three brushes on Amazon for $14.99+ (five bristle stiffness options available).

13. A flexible gutter scoop that pulls up piles of even the most goopy, packed-in, semi-composted leaves in one go.

amazon.com

Promising review: “I have cleaned my gutters several times over the years. I have always just used my hands and an occasional power washer. The Gutter Getter made the job so much easier! I cleaned all the gutters on the back of my house in 30 minutes! No hose, no water, no gloves. Just scooped the junk out, and the gutter was clean. That job would have taken me two hours the way I have always done it, and I would have had hoses, gloves, and mess. I love this product!” —TinyRhino

Get it on Amazon for $9.14.

14. A simple lidded bath that lets denture tablets clean every nook and cranny of your retainer, dentures, mouthguard, or Invisalign.

amazon.com, amazon.com

So sure, it’s more of a box than a gadget, but I wore a retainer for many years and would’ve loved to have something like this! You just fill it with water, drop a denture cleaning tablet in, and let it do its thing.

Promising review: “I don’t have dentures, but I do have to wear a mouth guard and night because I grind my teeth. This container makes it very easy to clean my mouth guard each morning by just adding some warm water and a cleaning tablet. The strainer section is easy to take out and, and you can just run the water over and through it while the mouth guard is still inside. It’s very handy and I’ve definitely been better about cleaning my mouth guard since I got it!” —Orianne

Get it on Amazon for $9.99.

15. A refillable phone and screen cleaner–sponge — it will quickly wipe off all the fingerprints, face oils, and other mysterious gunk that always seems to appear out of nowhere.

The Grommet

It’s a two-sided gadget: first you roll the little sponge along to deposit the smallest amount of cleaning solution. Then you uncap the other end to squeegee everything off.

16. The Diamond Dazzle Stik, which you gently brush onto your diamond, sapphire, emerald, and other precious-gem rings for a sparkling clarity worthy of a professional cleaning.

amazon.com

All you have to do is twist to dispense a little of the liquid, then brush it over your jewelry to make everything sparkle. It works for stones, gold, and silver, but not pearls!

Promising review: “I was skeptical about this but once I opened and used it… OMG! I have an amethyst wedding ring and the stone was so cloudy it looked terrible. I tried to clean it with a toothbrush and warm water/mild soap as I was instructed when it was purchased. It would get clean but I couldn’t get behind the stone so it would never really look clean. I used this product and once it was rinsed and dry it looked just like the day I received it. I was so excited! The bristles on the brush really get into the tiny holes behind the ring setting which allows for an actual scrub on the back of the stone to remove the buildup. This product is amazing.” —KY Acton

Get it on Amazon for $6.99.

17. A rubber wheel designed to attach to your drill for the sole and exclusive purpose of quickly removing decals and bumper stickers from cars and boats without damaging the paint one bit.

amazon.com

Promising review: “Bought a used car to get back and forth to work. Only problem being the back was covered in bumper stickers. Eleven to be exact. I don’t like bumper stickers. At all. This Whizzy Wheel removed all of them in 25–30 minutes total no problem. Still has probably half the wheel left so I stuck it in my garage toolbox in case I need to eradicate any bummer stickers in the future.” —PrestidgeSouthside

Get it on Amazon for $19.97.

18. A set of four weighted pea sponges so fun to use you won’t ever let your reusable water bottles get stinky again. All you do is plop ’em in the bottle with some hot, soapy water, and ~shake it up~.

amazon.com

Promising review: “I do love it. A simple thing. Our family uses reusable bottles for water. Easy. Convenient. But sometimes I worried about the best way to clean them. Often I would just rinse with really hot water, but sometimes I want to clean the inside with soap. These works well, or at least, makes me feel that I am doing a good job cleaning the bottles. You can hear the beans move up and down and press against the side. Easy to put in the bottles and easy to get out. Makes me feel better, and that is what counts. Right? :-)” —Sir Lancelot

Get two sets from Amazon for $9.95.

amazon.com

The brush part retracts into the body of the gadget when it’s not in use, to protect the bristles and prevent them from collecting any unwanted dirt or dust.

Promising review: “My laptop hasn’t been so clean since I bought it! Much better than compressed air cleaning. Using the rubbery end, you can even clean off the finger-tracker; and using the little brush, you get out all those annoying little crumbs and pieces of stuff that both impede your keyboard performance and make it look dirty. I wish I would have taken before and after pictures — the difference is astonishing! I was skeptical, but this little tool is worth the price.” —Amazon Customer

Get it on Amazon for $5.99 (available in two colors).

20. A hair brush cleaning tool so you can turn back the clock and make your brushes look like you just bought ’em after only a few minutes of work.

amazon.com

It has a narrowly-pointed plastic scraper end perfect for raking up hair from the base then pulling it all the way off the brush. Plus two separate bristles sections that are stiff for effectiveness, but won’t damage the pins even on your pricier brushes.

Promising review: “I have very long hair that seems to trap thing like dust, stuffing fluff, cat hair, small children, etc. My Wet Brush — for all of you also have one you know how dingy they get just after one use — was a safe haven for all of this. I try to pick out my hair after brushing, but the nest of leave-in conditioner and fluff holds on like magnets. With some Windex, warm water and three minutes of scrubbing, my brush looks brand new. It’s easy enough to do once a week. Don’t be afraid to get a little aggressive with the scrubbing, it will work out in your favor.” —Katie S.

Get it from Amazon for $9.95.

21. A specialty dryer vent cleaning kit and brush that (optionally) attaches to your drill, because lint can seriously build up in those vents and once you push the excess out, you’ll both reduce your fire risk and your clothes will dry faster.

amazon.com

You can always hire a pro for this, but it’s a pretty simple DIY. Just make sure you get enough rods to extend all the way through your dryer vent in one direction (this kit comes with 12 feet of ’em) to completely clear the buildup.

Promising review: “First, let me admit: I didn’t think I needed this tool at all, but when the “Auto-Dry” function on our dryer started delivering me damp clothes on a regular basis, I reluctantly agreed to clean out the vent. It didn’t look clogged from the outside, and seemed to be blowing plenty of air there, so I was skeptical but ultimately disgusted to see all the gunk this tool pushed through. Whether you’re paranoid about burning the house down, or you just have a dryer that isn’t working so great anymore, you need to get the lint out of the duct!” —Lego Girl

Get it on Amazon for $16.46.

22. A set of air-tight paint touch-up pens to easily cover up any scratches, scuffs, or other marks that refuse to clean off any other way.

amazon.com, Slobproof

They work like little syringes to neatly suck up the paint from the can. Because they’re completely air tight, the paint lasts for years without drying out! They *are* refillable, despite what some reviewers claim; here’s how.

Promising review: “Love this — absolutely perfect for touchin’ up little spots that need touchin’ up. I have several sets filled with different paints and so far they’ve stayed usable, without the paint drying out. I rinse the brush really well after each use (latex paints) and recap it. It would be nice if the manufacturer put an area on the pen where you could easily label the paint info, but I use a permanent marker, and it works okay.” —Hooked on Amazon!

Get a set of five on Amazon for $16.99.

23. A four-piece cooktop cleaning kit with all the tools you need to conquer even the most impossible seeming, cooked on–mysteries on your glass stove.

amazon.com

You get a bottle of cleaner plus the two gadgets that make all the difference: a non-scratch scrubber and a razor-like scraper.

Promising review: “I hadn’t thoroughly scrubbed my glass cooktop in years, only wiped it down with random multi-cleaners which never seemed to do much. Then a friend recommended this product… AMAZING! The included scrubbers and scraper really make the difference. As others have said it will leave your cooktop shiny and new. Even marks that had been on there for years came almost completely off… 98% better. The key is to use very little product. Let it dry to a haze and wipe with a clean dry cotton towel. (Just like waxing a car). If you aren’t getting a mirrored finish it’s because you’ve used too much product and not enough elbow grease to polish off.” —B. Swartwood

Get the kit on Amazon for $11.98.

24. An extendable tub and tile scrubber that makes it simple to reach both the highest and lowest corners of your bathroom without having to hurt your knees kneeling *or* teeter on a stepstool.

amazon.com

It expands from 26 inches to 42 inches, and has a scrubby pad that’s tough on grime and holds water so you can rinse the scrubbed-up gunk away.

Promising review: “I really like this! I am 71 with arthritis, and cleaning tubs and showers was difficult. The extendable handle is very sturdy. The scrubbing pad is tough, but did not scratch the vinyl tub or shower. We have iron in our water and if the water softener runs low on salt, the orange color in the water accumulates. I used 401 spray cleaner and the OXO scrubber and the orange stain is gone from the white tub! Perfect!” —Carol Miller

Get i ton Amazon for $13.99 (refills currently available for $11.47).

25. A fabric shaver — it will restore your pilling, fuzzy sweaters, throw pillows, and furniture so they look like they’re brand new again.

amazon.com

You can choose between three different shaving depths for whatever fits your fabric best.

Promising review: “This defuzzer is so simple to use and worked great on the throw pillows on my couch. I thought I was going to have to throw them away due to all of the pilling, but this device saved them! After I had done two pillows I noticed the defuzzer had slowed down and wasn’t working as well — I thought maybe the batteries were dying. But actually it just needed to be thoroughly cleaned out. You can very easily remove each piece of this to adequately clean the fuzz out of all the nooks and crannies. Each piece just twists or pulls off!” —Amazon Customer

Get it on Amazon for $11.99.

26. A headlight restoration kit that attaches to your drill so you don’t have to put in any serious effort to get crystal clear, like-new lights.

amazon.com

Reviewers (and the instructions) suggest adding several layers of tape around the edges of your headlights to protect the paint. It’s a three-step process; the kit includes masking tape, ten total light sanding discs, a foam disc, a drill backing plate for the discs, and wax protectant.

Promising review: “I really love the results of this product! It took me four hours total, but it was worth it to see the end results. My 13 year old stock headlights had never received any treatment and had major oxidation build up. I followed instructions carefully and alternated between the 800 grit and wet Trizact sand before I moved onto the buffing with rubbing compound. As soon as I buffed out the lens, it became increasingly clear! I was so amazed at the results, and proud of it! I also purchased and used the Meguiar’s headlight clear coat to help protect the lens, which is supposed to last up to a year. If you have patience and time, you will get the best results from this.” —Puffin
