You don’t mess with a dog’s treats. Not only because it’s not a nice thing to do, but in a recent short film, it might also mean that that dog might mess with you.
A couple of months back, Chris Scarlette teamed up with a couple of friends and his dog Winnie to make a short film illustrating exactly what happened when someone took Winnie’s carrots. With some practical effect, visual effects, and some plastic airsoft rifles, Scarlette transformed his sweet Shiba Inu and greyhound mix into a bloodthirsty pup looking for revenge. It’s campy and absurd, but it’s no less entertaining than many of the action blockbuster movies we used to go see in theaters.
Spoiler: it doesn’t end well for the carrot thieves.
While the short was originally posted in June, it recently gained traction after Scarlette shared the film on Reddit’s r/videos subreddit, hitting a sweet spot for a viral video. It’s a high-level concept with explosions, executed with precision, and it stars an adorable dog, who Scarlette has nothing but praise for.
“All resources to make this short were from my own pocket!” Scarlette explained in a follow-up comment. “Making movies is fun, and it allows quality time with friends, especially when you get to blow shit up. And also Winnie is a girl! She is my princess. And she deserves all the carrots.”
