Amid the coronavirus pandemic, airlines have gone to great lengths to keep planes germ-free.
But are planes clean enough that passengers can eat—or cook—dinner off a bathroom seat?
One TikTok comedian attempted to do so earlier in the week, cooking a raw steak balanced on top of a plane toilet.

In the now-deleted video, TikTok star Marcus Monroe puts a Sterno in the airplane toilet. He lights it with a long-reach lighter, lays down an aluminum grilling sheet across the seat, and puts down a raw steak. To marinate the meat, he pours a small bottle of white wine on it before plating the steak and walking back to his seat on the aircraft.
“Tap to see if I got banned from the airline,” Monroe writes at the end of the video.
After pushback, Monroe admitted the whole video was made up and simply a prank, according to Johnny Jet. The incident appears to have taken place on a Delta flight. Many Twitter users have pointed out that Monroe’s prank looks like a serious breach of FAA’s fire safety regulations, too.
This is not the only prank Monroe has pulled while aboard an aircraft. According to Johnny Jet, a previous stunt shows him cutting the hair of a woman on an airplane while she is “dead asleep.”
