5 Reasons You Shouldn’t Wait Any Longer To Break Up With The Wrong Person

1. Procrastinating is only going to extend your stress. If you already know you aren’t going to stay in the relationship, then you might as well rip off the bandaid now. You don’t want them to grow more attached to you. You don’t want to continue leading them on when you’ve already decided they aren’t what you want. Even though you’re terrified of breaking their heart, honesty is the best course of action for both of you. If you’re positive there’s no changing your mind, that you aren’t going to wake up one day and decide staying is actually for the best, then there’s no point in procrastinating. You can give them the news today or you can give it to them tomorrow, so why extend the pain?

2. They deserve to know how you really feel. You aren’t doing them a favor by sticking around when you’re unhappy. They’re going to sense something is wrong. They’re going to wonder what has been on your mind lately, and if you hide the truth from them, it’s only going to give them trust issues in the future. It’s only going to make them skeptical the next time they think they’ve found love. They deserve to know how you really feel, even if it means sitting through an uncomfortable conversation or two. They deserve to be in a relationship where their love is one-hundred percent returned, not where they’re only being met halfway. You owe it to them to let them run free.

3. You deserve whatever will make you happiest. You shouldn’t stay in a relationship because you feel guilty about leaving your partner. You shouldn’t stay in a relationship because you’re worried family and friends will judge you for being single. You shouldn’t stay in a relationship for any other reason than the fact you love this person and can picture a bright future with this person. If you don’t think they’re right for you, then you need to leave. It’s not selfish to do what is best for yourself. Breaking up with them isn’t heartless. It’s brave.

4. You’ll both be able to handle it. There might be tears. There might be arguments. There might be resentment. But both of you are going to get through the breakup. Neither one of you is going to suffer as much as you’re thinking right now. You’re both tough enough to handle the heartache. You’re both going to find love again. Things might be rough at first, but they’re going to get better for both of you.

5. The faster you break up with them, the faster you can move on. You can’t move on while you’re still in a relationship. You need to part ways. You need to embark on your own separate lives. The longer you stay in a relationship you know isn’t right for you, the longer you’re waiting to start your new life. As soon as you break up, you’re going to go through a grieving process. You’re going to need time to adjust to all the ways your life has changed. Those things sound scary, but it’s better for you to get them over with now so it’s done. The sooner you break up, the sooner you can start to move on. TC mark
